
Jamie Myers, Executive Director
Jamie has been the executive director of Prevention Consultants of Missouri since its inception in 1993. He is responsible for directing all services of the agency. Jamie works from the philosophy of “develop our strategies and focus our efforts on doing what the research says will work to improve an existing need, do the work better than it’s been done before, include methods to evaluate and learn from our efforts, and adapt to improve the strategies as we learn.”
After completing a master’s degree in educational and counseling psychology from the University of Missouri, he began his career in the helping professions in 1987. As a licensed and nationally certified counselor, his professional experience includes working as a therapist in mental health rehabilitation program, administering a multi-disciplinary, hospital-based treatment facility, directing a community project with high risk kids and families, developing and coordinating several school-based prevention and intervention initiatives with at risk children and families, coaching junior high student athletes for local schools, implementing targeted outreach and prevention projects for families and children in a high-need neighborhoods, designing an after school mentoring program, providing bully prevention presentations for elementary school classes, and providing technical assistance for statewide organizations.
In addition to directing the multiple services of Prevention Consultants of Missouri, Jamie also provides training, consulting, and other professional development services to schools, businesses, agencies and other organizations. He is also a board member and volunteers in several other community organizations. He is one of the Founding Board Members of Rolla Youth Football and he has been both Campaign Chairman and President of the United Way of Phelps County. Currently, Jamie is completing his doctoral degree dissertation in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis at the University of Missouri. Most importantly, Jamie and his wife are the parents of three children.

Mary Beth Myers, Coordinator of
Education and Training
Mary Beth received a doctoral degree in 1982 from the California School of Professional Psychology. Her research in the area of women and self-esteem and women and victimology has been published in professional and educational journals as well as in popular literature.
Dr. Myers has many years of experience in clinical and forensic psychology and providing professional development workshops and training. She specializes in communication, self-esteem, parenting, children's issues, and the psychology of women. She is available to do multiple workshops and training for agencies, schools, businesses, churches, and other organizations.
In addition to her work at Prevention Consultants of Missouri, Mary Beth is an instructor at Webster University and East Central College. She is the mother of two children.

Shana Stephenson, Prevention Technician
Shana is the newest member of the Prevention Consultants of Missouri team. She began her employment in August of 2004. She completed the Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist training in the Spring of 2005. Shana works primarily with community substance abuse prevention teams.
Shana most enjoys coordinating and facilitating trainings for the community prevention teams. She also assists with the Mentoring Makes a Difference and All Stars programs.
Shana is married and has two sons. Her part-time hours allow her the flexibility to volunteer with the local public school system, where her children attend.
Prior to beginning her employment with Prevention Consultants of Missouri, Shana was a Certified Child Birth Educator, and taught classes at an area hospital for two years.

Lisa Cannon, Project Coordinator
Lisa has been coordinating programs with Prevention Consultants of Missouri since the fall of 2000. Lisa currently coordinates the Targeted Outreach and Prevention Program (TOP) and the Mentoring Makes a Difference Project. The TOP Project has been successful in bringing new and existing activities and services to families and children living in high-need neighborhoods. This Mentoring Makes a Difference project matches high risk kids with adult, volunteer mentors.
While completing her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and psychology from Drury University, Lisa started her professional career in law enforcement as an officer with the University of Missouri Rolla Police. Later, she went to work for the Phelps County Juvenile Office as a school liaison officer working with six school districts in two counties. She worked with referred students to improve their school attendance and performance and to prevent their formal involvement with the juvenile justice system.
Lisa is now finishing her Masters of Science degree in Criminal Justice through Drury University. Most importantly, Lisa is married and has one son.
Paula Culp, Counselor in Training
Paula has 20 plus years of professional experience training parents and counseling families. She is currently assisting families with school age children through Prevention Consultants of Missouri. She has been an adjunct instructor for the University of Missouri and Metro Community College in Family Science, Parenting, Human Growth and Development and Relationships. She has also worked in the public and private sector of counseling in arizona and nebraska. She recieved a Masters Degree in Science Counseling from Central Missouri State University.
Wendy Carter, Counselor and Anger
Management Trainer
Wendy is a licensed counselor in Missouri. She provides Anger Management training for parents through the building family assets program. She also provides counseling for adults working on issues such as stress, depression, bereavement, anger management, weight loss, and healthy lifestyles. Wendy is also a Qualified Substance Abuse Professional.
