At Risk: Risking to Take the Challenge
What is an at-risk student? How do we identify them? What can my school do to help? What more can I do as a single educator to benefit all kids? This workshop will answer these questions and more. Participants will also explore examples of current successful school and community-based at risk prevention and intervention strategies.
The State of Substance Abuse
During this workshop, participants will review revealing statistics specifically from their county and the relationship many problems at school and in the community have to alcohol and other drug abuse. Proven and practical methods to more effectively address the prevention and intervention needs of the school and community will be discussed.
Encircled in Sadness: Childhood Depression, Anxiety and Grief
Participants in this workshop will discuss the physiological symptoms experienced by children with emotional problems and how these symptoms affect their performance in the classroom, as well as their development of self confidence and social skills within the school setting.
